SSC153 Wild About Color

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  Time for another Sunday Stamps challenge.

For me, I put together a quick and simple card for a friend.  Using a combo of old and new In Colors, I barely managed to bring in some blue with the sequins.

The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches #287.  The technique used is Triple Time Stamping (on two layers, so is that Double Time?).

Here are this week's challenge colors. Use a minimum of 3 colors and a neutral of your choice.

Please join us at Sunday Stamps this week!

Stamps: Wild About Flowers, Colorful Seasons; Paper: Summer Starfruit, Tranquil Tide, Whisper White; Ink: Summer Starfruit, Tranquil Tide; Accessories: Fancy Frost Sequins.

Hey Sport!

Happy Thursday, Everyone!  Recently I created a fun interactive card for my niece, who is a big softball player.

I hope you all kept your Circle Card framelits, after they retired, to create flip-flop cards.  Super easy - and hopefully fun for tweens too!

Here's the card opening up:

And a fun interactive view:

The Stamp Review Crew: Thoughtful Banners

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  Today we are highlighting a sentiment stamp set, Thoughtful Banners. This set coordinates with the Duet Banner & Classic Label punches.  If you are following the blog hop order, you have just come from the very talented Mickey Roberts's blog -- I love her attention to detail!

I decided to pair up this sentiment set with retiring stamp set, Always an Adventure, and coordinating Outdoor Adventure Framelits.

Using a Z-fold allows staggering the fun images and die-cuts of the Always an Adventure bundle.  Start with 4 x 12" card base, scored at 4 & 8", and cut diagonally with 2-1/2" height on one end and 4" on the other end.

Tip: To get some orange on the campfire, watercolor Pumpkin Pie ink onto So Saffron card stock, let dry, then stamp image onto colored card stock.

Stamps: Always an Adventure, Thoughtful Banners; Paper: So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Emerald Envy, Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Whisper White, A Little Foxy DSP; Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Dapper Denim, Soft Suede, Early Espresso; Accessories: Aquapainter, Outdoor Adventure Framelits, Big Shot.

And I thought I would create a card focusing strictly on the stamp set images.

Stamps: Thoughtful Banners; Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Gold Glimmer; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Black Baker's Twine, Dimensionals.

One more little notecard featuring upcoming new In Colors.

Stamps: Thoughtful Banners; Paper: Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Fig, Tranquil Tide, Very Vanilla, Champagne Glimmer; Ink: Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Fig, Tranquil Tide, Memento Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Duet Banner Punch.

Up next is the fabulous Charlet Mallett.  Let's check out what fun projects she has put together with this week's set.

There are a couple weeks left in this current catalog season.  If you live in the U.S. and are in need of a catalog, please contact me.

Something Old, Something New...

Good morning, Everyone!  As a way to become familiar with the new In Colors, I love to do some watercoloring with them.  And this is a perfect excuse to play with a retiring stamp set, Chase Your Dreams.

I paired the retiring set with the new Eastern Palace DSP for some quickie and fun notecards.  This paper is part of the Eastern Palace Bundles available now, a month ahead of the new catalog going live.

Stamps: Chase Your Dreams; Paper: Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig, Very Vanilla, Eastern Palace DSP; Ink: Lemon-Lime Twist, Fresh Fig, Smoky Slate, Basic Black; Accessories: Dotted Ribbon Border Punch, Aquapainter.

Have a great week, and don't forget to enter for your chance to win some blog candy!

SSC152 Super Chicken & Blog Candy!

Hey y'all!  Time for another Sunday Stamps challenge.  Today Teresa Kline brings us a sketch challenge.

Hopefully a certain special "Super Chicken" will be too busy to look at my blog for a couple days, as this card is for her.  Ok, I'll tell you.  This is a Mother's Day card, using my mother's nickname from her Girl Scout leader's days.  I wonder how she got that name, hmmmm.

I rotated the sketch 90o, and I sponged the backside of the vellum with Crushed Curry ink.  The stitched square framelit is elongated by only cutting half way down the die, moving the die down a bit, and cutting in from the other direction half way.  I also used glue only on the backside of the vellum behind the super hero so it wouldn't show through.

How fun to change the head on the super hero body!  Give it a try!!  And P.S. Everyday Hero stamp set is retiring at the end of May, so make sure to grab yours (guaranteed to be in stock through May 22).

Here's this week's sketch.

Stamps: Everyday Hero, Hey, Chick; Paper: Real Red, Smoky Slate, Very Vanilla, Carried Away DSP, Vellum; Ink: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Real Red, Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Versamark; Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, Aquapainter, Sponge, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot.

And BLOG CANDY!  I have another round to give away.  Please leave a comment here by Sunday, May 14 Wednesday May 17.  And join me on Facebook. I will be picking a random winner on Monday, May 15 Thursday, May 18.  Make sure you have your email linked to your commenting profile so I can contact you or stop by here to check for the winner.  U.S. residents only, please.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, so "May the Fourth be with you" does nothing for me.  But celebrating Mexican heritage and getting behind some yummy Mexican food?  I'm in for that!  We already got a head start by going out to our favorite local Mexican restaurant last weekend.

I have to say, of all the stamp sets that are retiring, Birthday Fiesta bums me out the most.  That llama and cactus are so fun, and I really love all the colors in the Birthday Fiesta suite.  This was the first set I had to get when the catalog came out last year.

Here are some of my favorite projects with this set.

Make sure to grab yours before they are gone.  I've got something fun coming up for Sunday Stamps in a couple days, but for now, enjoy your weekend!
